About me
I am a certified Play Therapist with a background of working with children in both mainstream and special school settings.
I am passionate about working with all children, and in particular, neurodivergent children as I have witnessed the positive impact that play therapy can have as they face the challenges of living in a world predominantly set up for neurotypical people.
My work is guided by Axline's principles and I believe that children have the innate ability to overcome the difficulties they face given the opportunity to do so. This opportunity is provided by the time and therapeutic relationship offered in play therapy.
My qualifications include: Post Graduate Diploma in Play Therapy (University of Chichester) Post Graduate Certificate in Therapeutic Play (Leeds Beckett University) BAEd (QTS) Primary Education with Biology (University of Winchester)
Safeguards and Quality Assurance
I am registered with the PTUK Register of Play and Creative Arts Therapists, accredited by the Professional Standards Authority. ID number: 2021005188
I hold an enhanced DBS check, specialist insurance and I am registered with the ICO, complying with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
I work within the ethical framework of PTUK and I continue to deepen my knowledge through CPD and regular Clinical Supervision.
"Play is a child's natural medium for self-expression" — Virginia Axline.
At some point most children face challenges or difficulties which they will need to work through in order to feel happy, confident and thrive at school. Sometimes support is needed to make sense of difficult feelings or events such as:
Family relationship difficulties, Siblings with additional needs, Bereavement Divorce Low self-esteem/lack of confidence Friendship difficulties Worry/anxiety Anger Difficult/traumatic experiences
Integrative Holistic Play therapy allows children to use play and creativity to express feelings, process experiences, and solve problems in a safe, nonjudgmental space. Therapy is led by the child, and a warm, accepting and understanding therapeutic relationship is offered. A wide range of toys and creative media allow a child to express and work through difficulites symbolically, supporting inner growth and healing. Children can develop improved emotional regulation, self-esteem, and coping skills whilst also allowing them to learn better at school.
Therapy is rarely a quick fix. It takes time for a child to develop trust in the therapeutic relationship and understand that the therapeutic space is one in which they can fully express their inner world and be fully accepted as they are. Only then can change occur.
I am passionate about art and creativity for self-expression and wellbeing, and believe that it is something that everyone can engage with and enjoy if they wish to. Art is about having the courage to try, not qualifications!

This approach is suited to groups of children of a similar age/developmental stage who may not meet the threshold of requiring 1:1 therapy. Groups can provide support to children who otherwise may 'go under the radar' in terms of interventions.
Groups can take place in school or venue of your choosing - contact me to explore the needs of your setting and the type of group support required.
